Unworthy????
COMMUNION is a celebration of covenant. It is identifying with Christ the one we are in union with……now. It is not about your sinfulness and trying to get forgiveness. Communion is celebrating the forgiveness that has already been given and now we appropriate what He has already provided. 1 Cor 11:27 talks about eating unworthily. That simply means we do not eat because we are unworthy and sinful and beggars…. we eat the bread and drink the blood because it is His body and blood and we were made worthy by both of them. Many are weak and sick and die because they take communion thinking they are unworthy so they do not acknowledge or appropriate what Jesus bought and paid for and gave them freely….covenant is to provide for your household which is us the bride the lambs wife. So we eat with a worthy mindset in celebration not in sorrow. We eat worthily because He made us bone of his bone and flesh of His flesh. He consumed the sin and its nature and swallowed it up at the cross making us worthy. It is merely a remembrance of who and what He made us and a giving of love and devotion to the one who made “worthy” possible for all of us. Sin was taken care of at the cross communion is just acknowledging the truth of the forgiveness that is already at work in us. Repentance at the communion table is not to come in remorse for our sinfulness but to repent means to change your mind on how you think about what Jesus did for you on the cross. Recognizing this magnificent accomplishment at the cross brings you to repentance or a change of mind on what really happened on the cross and arising in worship to give back to Him the honor He so gloriously deserves. We are heirs together of the grace of life and as ONE we celebrate our union at the table.
